ON THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONING OF COUNCILS IN HANNAH ARENDT

For Hannah Arendt, councils are not simple ideas or theories; in her book On Revolution, councils are presented as concrete examples of spaces of freedom and political action that have always arisen in the course of "genuine revolutions. Therefore, in Hannah Arendt's political theory, councils appear as one of the fundamental elements and, in her view, the council system is the only viable alternative to the political party system present in representative democracy. The purpose of this article is to analyze and present, even if briefly, the structure and functioning of councils in Hannah Arendt's political theory, highlighting their potential and advantages in relation to the political party system.
