INTRODUCTORY NOTES ON THE QUESTION OF EVIL IN ST. AUGUSTINE AND HANNAH ARENDT

In the history of Western thought, St. Augustine and Hannah Arendt stand out for their substantial contributions to the understanding of various themes and subjects that interest us all. In general, St. Augustine has had a strong influence on Hannah Arendt's thought since the beginning of her intellectual career, as can be seen in her various works. Like St. Augustine, Hannah Arendt also had to deal with the question of evil in her time, after the rise of the totalitarian phenomenon. Thus, in this text, the objective is to present, in an introductory way, some notes about the conceptions of evil of these two thinkers, in order to verify possible points of convergence or divergence between them.
