Study objectives: The present research explores some of the specific aspects of the Brazilian public policy Bolsa Família (PBF), held under a Behavioral Economics perspective. Methods/approach: An analysis of the main literature about the public policy and about the Behavioral Economics main history and insights was carried out. Main results: An intervention in the policy was suggested, based on Behavioral Economics insights: a new model of letter to improve the communication process with the beneficiary of the public policy in case of non-compliment of the conditionalities. We also propose a method for the evaluation of the intervention on the PBF. Practical contributions: The proposed intervention aims making the language used in the public policy simpler, clearer, and more effective. Academic contributions: This study contributes to the scholarly literature on public policies and behavioral economics.
