WHEN THE MOB GOES TO FIGHT: VIOLENCE, RESISTANCE AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Abstract

The crowd always scared the governments. It is attributing to the crowd actions with the features of the irrationality, social insecurity and perturbation of the political order, while is also observed like a liberality and horizontal movement. However, the Modern State and the vertical structure of the social power with the idea of violence monopoly by the state cannot brought some rational and civilizing patterns for the social control, in especial, for the punitive control. The promise about social space ordination and soft use of the violence by the actually forms of States was broken. Quite the opposite new kinds of violence and a continue rights violations against the people was observed. In confrontation, the crowd reacts, based on a horizontal power that appears because the fear and the insecurity were disseminated by the increase of the new kinds of violence. On this reaction, the crowd does not only designed whom will be made scapegoat or practices more violence types, but claims for political spaces that were lost to the State and also delimited new borders and positioned horizontal strategies to rapport with the political state power. In this way, such crowd reactions are not only a violence source, but a necessary source of skills for the people political promotion and for the social learning about the human rights.
