Semiotic Reading of Change in Visual Communication between the Rounds of the Electoral Campaign for President of the Republic

Abstract

The present research is based on the semiotic analysis of the change in visual communication from the first to the second round of the 2018 electoral campaign. For this analysis, a pictorial text of each turn of the election was used. Thus, an analysis of the generative path of meaning was proposed, according to the proposition of Greimasian semiotics, aiming at the identification of discursive strategies and semantic attributes adopted by the enunciator in the creation of an evaluative image in each of the electoral rounds and the reason for its change using elements paratextual. This methodological procedure made it possible to reveal different meanings present in the semiotic text and the reaffirmation of aspects of representation of part and all in the simulacrum of the candidacy. New analyzes are suggested that deepen this discussion from a semiotic perspective, but that also involve aspects linked to the opposing candidacy in a second round.
