JOURNALISM, MEDIA AND POWER: the impeachment process and the post-Dilma context

The Latin American Journal of Journalism - ANCORA provides its ninth edition [V.5 N.2] with a thematic dossier as a set of transdisciplinary academic contributions that deal with JOURNALISM, MEDIA and POWER: the process of impeachment and the post- Dilma. This is an interpretative textual composition with arrogant, meticulous and in-depth looks of researchers that integrate different universities in Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and Colombia. These different plural and singular voices focused particularly on the complexities involved in the impeachment process of former President Dilma Rousseff regarding the narrative bias of certain journalistic coverage produced by the major press and in some cases on reverberations of these news events in networks social policies. The major press played a leading role in this political spectacle fueled by daily facts involving institutions of the constituted powers of the republic, such as the Legislative, Judiciary and Public Prosecution. The articles and the interview in this dossier provide an analytical account of these exposed fractures related to the context of the democratic process, the role of journalism in periods of political crisis, and the behavior of the press and the problematizations necessary to the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary and other bare wires that caused short circuits and blackouts in the Brazilian democracy.
