TEXT, IMAGE AND EDITING: the steps of the impeachment under the discursive optic of the Jornal Nacional [Brazil]

The article aims to analyze the discourse resulting from the intervention of text and image editing in a news report of the Jornal Nacional on October 21st, 2015 whose topic was the presentation of charges of irregularities against Dilma Rousseff Government to the Chamber of Deputies. Seeking to approach the journalistic discourse of a political moment that had a great influence on public opinion, we intend to understand how text and image form an indiscernible whole that distinguishes a discourse produced for show purposes. We conclude that editing is the place where discourse occurs by privileging in a particular way the relationship between what the text expresses and what the image shows and by being the place where the communication contract between the subjects is signed.
