CHILDREN ON LINE: the use of digital information by students at the 8th grade of basic education

Abstract

The technological evolution has increased the process of globalization and has proposed a new culture for man and the work relationship. The introduction of technological resources became something real in most of the Brazilian schools. This context motivated this present research with the aim of analyzing the use digital information by students at the 8th grade of basic education. To do so, the research is exploratory, descriptive and approaches some quantitative and qualitative matters related to the focus of the work. The subjects involved were 34 students from the Colégio e Curso Evolução. The results showed that the majority of the students is female, from 13 to 16 years of age, who access, daily, the internet at home and own an e-mail. The students access a variety of sites in the use of information, the internet is used for communication, leisure, and to help with the homework without any difficulties. Thus, it may be concluded that, nowadays, the use of digital information is of little use as a didactic resource as it is previewed in the pedagogical proposals to build knowledge.
