COMICS: PERCEPTION AND READING BY STUDENTS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Abstract

The comics have been considered as a visual communication media. It shows itself through the narration of words and sequences of images. Due to a great diffusion and access at a low cost, they were universally known as mass media communication. This investigation has as main objective to investigate the cartoons reading habit by children, traveling to 4th series of the elementary school, in two schools of the municipal district of João Pessoa. It rescues the historical antecedents and approaches the thematic comics reading and reading habit. For the field research, it was applied a questionnaire as an instrument of data collection to 40 students, from public and private schools. The results suggest that the comics occupies a prominence role in the life of the subjects, because they motivate and stimulate the reading habit; they act as a leisure activity, sharpen the creativity and improves the spelling.
