The aim of this article is to identify possible contributions that arise from the interface between Information Science (IC) and learning mediated by Paulo Freire's contributions. This is a theoretical study with thematic intersections between Information Science and Education. It is noteworthy that both have built fruitful interfaces, especially in the field of socialization of information, considering the fundamentals of Freire's pedagogy, and that this mediation can bring significant contributions with the deepening of studies. As a research methodology, in addition to the bibliographical research of Paulo Freire's books, we searched for authors who dialogued with the theme. In this process, we seek to analyze the conception of the educator and the information professional, who emerge from professional activity and propose, according to Paulo Freire's theory, ways for professionals to recognize themselves and assume themselves as mediators, authors, self-employed and creators. It is concluded that there are many factors to be overcome, but, in light of Freire's theory, they can be overcome through struggle, resistance, scientific competence, ethics, democracy, coherence and many other requirements that teaching requires.
