Abstract

This is an exploratory study, whose analysis technique used both for data collection and analysis was the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin (2010). In order to meet the main objective of this study, which consisted of analyzing the categories Information, Memory and Society in the light of the works: Liquid times by Sigmund Bauman and For another globalization: from the single thought to the universal consciousness of Milton Santos, studied in the discipline that takes the same name, offered by the PPGCI/UFPB. From the analysis carried out in the records, the following result was reached: Capital, capitalism, commerce, community, culture, disorder, state, globalization, identity, individualism, information, fear, memory, goods, poverty and society. These were the terms that were most repeated during the citation analysis process. Thus, based on these terms, the following conclusion was reached: information is the fundamental element in the globalization process and that its inappropriate use increases the feeling of insecurity and social disorder. In view of the individualistic character of contemporary society. Thus, the construction of identity takes place from the knowledge of the local culture, as well as the idea of belonging. On the other hand, the violent actions of the state, as well as its attempt to exempt from certain responsibilities, lead the community to a life based on fear, since a striking feature is the internationalization of financial capital, through the commercialization of goods, products and services, generated by large multinational companies.
