The representation of archival information is effectively carried out when combined with the development of research instruments, which are not always available for user guidance. Therefore, this work aims to report and discuss the development of an archive directory as a contribution to information dissemination and user satisfaction. Methodologically, the research has an applied nature, a qualitative approach and an exploratory/descriptive nature. For technical procedures, field and case studies were adopted. To collect data, direct observation and a form were used to obtain users' opinions regarding the content of the directory. The directory was structured by adopting topics that cover: information about the institution; consultation conditions; and description of the fund. For analysis, data categorization was adopted by grouping responses. As a result, the research demonstrated participants' satisfaction with the resulting product, with relevant adaptations being suggested. Criticisms and suggestions were recorded regarding the archive’s performance, mainly regarding the need for remote access. Results indicate that the implementation of this instrument could contribute significantly to the clarification of users, through guidance provided for knowledge and use of the resources offered. The need to expand the profile of users was observed and it is understood that greater initiatives are needed for the adoption of research instruments by institutions, since the increase in demand in archives could contribute to raising awareness among managers regarding the investments necessary for their structuring.
