Abstract

Since its insertion in the university in the 1970’s, the arts have searched for scientific validity. Inversely, the natural and mathematical sciences tended to a sociological understanding of the evaluation criteria and processes of validation used by the scientific community as well as of the principles that determine the evolution of the many sciences. Music, arts and the social sciences have the task of dealing simultaneously with sensibility and rationality, a mark of subjectivity. They are in constant and reciprocal movement from factual to conceptual synthesis. Their goals count on the experience gained from hermeneutical studies. In addition to cognitive processes, man cannot escape from Hermeneutics.
Keywords: Musicology. Sensibility. Rationality. Hermeneutics.
