This study approaches all institutional repositories in a wide range, including data providers as well as service providers. It also reflects on the pertinent aspects to the collection development, such as the definition of the collection scope, the creation of a collection development policy, aspects related to rights and intellectual property and the types of input and output from where the metadata will be derived.
