DA TEORIA DOS GEOSSISTEMAS À GEOGRAFIA FÍSICA CRÍTICA: o que há de novo na busca por abordagens integradoras na ciência geográfica?

Abstract

This paper, with theoretical character, aims to approach the integrative perspective of Geography and the seek for methods capable of achieving this integration, involving the natural and human components of the geographical space. For this purpose, two proposition that nowadays have guided studies in the Physical Geography were examined: the theory of geosystems (proposed in the second half of the twentieth century) and the Critical Physical Geography (more recent, presented at the beginning of the 21st century). The text begins by a brief review about the geographical ideal of integration or holistic approach, moving on to a discussion on the two mentioned propositions, their limits and differences. The main objective is contribute to the debate on the challenges of integrating knwledge in the geographical science.
