UM ESTUDO GEOGRÁFICO SOBRE O SANEAMENTO BÁSICO EM SOBRAL-CE

Abstract

The city currently raises important questions for us to think about the environment and basic sanitation. This article provides a geographical analysis of basic sanitation in four neighborhoods in the city of Sobral: Alto da Expectativa, Parque Silvana, Pedrinhas and Betânia, as well as analyzes the disparities in access to these services and to reflect on the relationship between society and nature in urban space. The methodology is based on the office research, carried out by means of bibliographic survey and exploratory research, using observation techniques and photographic records. Thus, the research has a descriptive and explanatory character, because from the surveys carried out, analyses were made on the situation of basic sanitation in these places. It is evident that Sobral's basic sanitation has been facing problems regarding infrastructure services, causing socio-spatial impacts on the city's urban space, and there is also the need for a greater active participation of the population in the management and control of solid waste, together with the municipal power.
