This article presents an analysis on the impacts of latifundium and agribusiness in a local scale. The space defined for the research covers the Saltinho Rural Community area, located in Candido de Abreu, state of Parana, Brazil. The research aims to identify causes and consequences of the increase in latifundium areas and the spread of the agribusiness model in the community. From this perspective, this paper encompasses bibliographical and field research, which contemplates semi structured interviews. Thereby, results show that latifundium is expanding throughout the areas that belong to peasant agriculture. Besides, the dissemination of agribusiness presents itself in the community through replacing food production by commercial cultures, for instance, replacing the cultivation of beans, corn and rice by commodities such as soybean and beef cattle.
