Abstract

The deforestation in the Amazon is a federal public order problem. In the Transamazonica and Xingu regions, many actions have been taken for economic development, following the pattern of occupation-deforestation-agribusiness. This research demonstrates that the environmentally differentiated settlement, PDS Ademir Federicci, serves for private land appropriation, deforestation, and pasture formation, resulting in emerging conflicts. To substantiate this assertion, secondary data from various institutional platforms were mobilized and integrated, then processed within a geographic information system. The results demonstrate that 84% of the entire area requested in SICAR belongs to large and medium-sized properties, and that 74.72% of deforestation within the PDS occurs in these areas. There is an overlap of properties totaling 444.99 km², and for this reason, pastures are more abundant in large and medium-sized properties, with 48.58 km² and 68.43 km², respectively. Finally, the forest formation class is the one that lost the most area, consecutively as pastures replace the forest, these pastures remain in 86.54% of the areas analyzed in the period from 2005 to 2022. Demonstrating there is private appropriation of the land and the misrepresentation of the purpose for which the PDS was intended.
