Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyse access to housing for working women living in João Pessoa, through credit lines and public policies for popular housing. To this end, we discuss the impact of the federal social housing policy Minha Casa Minha Vida (PMCMV) on the women who benefited from it between 2009 and 2018. The results point to women's unequal access to housing in urban areas. The results point to women's unequal access to housing in João Pessoa's urban space and the deep connection between the production of space and the reproduction of class and gender relations. This connection determines how territorial organisation produces and reproduces social inequalities in the process of socio-spatial segregation in the city.
