Abstract

This article addresses the “thematic region”. Conceived a priori as an analytical instrument and also as a geopolitical consequence of world capital, the thematic region contains some characteristics of “nomothetic regional geography”. However, this region does not correspond to the specific regions of New Geography. The thematic region must, therefore, be understood as a conceptual option that induces important and renewed geographic interpretations. In general, the dialectical, topical, multiscale and analytical perspective for regional studies is presented.
