Objective: to evaluate the effect of the perineal techniques used during the second period of the parturition process. Method: this is an integrative review, carried out on the scientific bases: LILACS, PubMed and Embase, following the guiding question: What is the effect of the perineal techniques used during the second period of the parturition process? For the recruitment of two articles, the Rayyan application was used and after the crossing of two articles in the data bases, 371 studies emerged, which were rigorously defined in the research protocol, being methodologically validated. Results: the study involved 55,188 women evaluated in their deliveries and techniques used during the second period of the parturition process. The studies of the last 5 years will predominate, encompassing the following countries: Australia, India, Iceland and Norway, being classified as short, experimental and cross-sectional. Conclusion: the use of perineal techniques used in the second period of the parturition process promotes improvements in positive outcomes and changes in obstetric practice. The training of the teams on the subject was presented as a determining factor in the success of the implementation of its use. Still, the few quantitative studies found show the need for new research investments in this subject, including not in Brazil.
