A energia nuclear como alternativa no enfrentamento das mudanças climáticas
e os impactos socioambientais e institucionais dos rejeitos radioativos

É possível incluir a energia nuclear nas alternativas para mitigar e combater as alterações climáticas? Neste contexto, o presente artigo investiga a gestão dos rejeitos radioativos, especialmente aqueles gerados por usinas nucleares, e os desafios técnicos, sociais e institucionais diante dos imensos impactos socioambientais envolvidos. Através de revisão bibliográfica, análise de notícias e reportagens, e utilizando o caso do processo de despejo das águas residuais da usina nuclear de Fukushima no Oceano Pacífico, o trabalho investiga a polarização do debate global sobre o descarte e o armazenamento dos resíduos radioativos, destacando a responsabilidade dos governos, das organizações internacionais e da sociedade, e a importância de incorporar as perspectivas de justiça ambiental e social.
