O mundo nórdico antigo: Castalia Bárbara, de Ricardo Jaime Freyre, 1899

Este artículo presenta una traducción al portugués del poemario Castalia Bárbara (1899), del boliviano Ricardo Jaimes Freyre. Como parte del movimiento modernista sudamericano, Jaimes Freyre se inspiró en la mitología nórdica para escribir esta obra, y el texto traducido aquí muestra cómo Jaimes Freyre utiliza los paisajes, símbolos, mitos y dioses escandinavos para dar a sus poemas el exotismo, la imaginería y la estética típicas de las obras modernistas. Para ello, se realizó una traducción lo más cercana posible al original en español, con el objetivo de reproducir el estilo de Jaimes Freyre en la lengua portuguesa, seguida de un análisis centrado en los elementos que le dieron forma y esencia e hicieron de esta colección algo novedoso para el contexto sudamericano de la época.
