MANIFESTAÇÕES RELIGIOSAS DE RAÍZES AFRICANAS EM VAU DA SARAPALHA AFRICAN ROOTS RELIGIOUS MANIFESTATIONS IN VAU DA SARAPALHA

Resumo

Resumo: O artigo traz uma análise das manifestações e representações das religiões de raízes africanas, presentes no espetáculo Vau da Sarapalha, encenado pelo Grupo de Teatro Piollin. Analisam-se os signos referentes às religiões de origem africana, presentes na música, nas expressões corporais e vocais e nos objetos cênicos que constituem o espetáculo Vau da Sarapalha. Estudam-se as representações ritualísticas, ancestrais e mediúnicas, presentes nos diversos sistemas de signos desse espetáculo. Quanto aos procedimentos metodológicos, foram realizadas uma pesquisa teórica e a análise de uma gravação, em vídeo, dessa mesma peça teatral. Adota-se como referência a abordagem da Semiótica da Cultura, tendo como base o conceito de modelização. A pesquisa se constitui como um estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa, com ênfase nas trocas entre literatura e teatro, comunicação, semiótica, e teorias da análise do teatro. O artigo é parte da nossa dissertação de Mestrado, intitulada “Vau da Sarapalha à luz da Semiótica: uma análise do espetáculo”, desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras da UFPB, sob a orientação da professora Dra. Elinês Oliveira.

Abstract: This article is an analysis of the African religious manifestations and representations present in the play Vau da Sarapalha, staged by Theatrical Company Piollin. It will be analyzed the signs present in music, body, vocal expressions and props present in the play that are references to African religious origin in Vau da Sarapalha. It will also be studied the cultural context of these ritualistic representations, ancestors and mediumship present in the various systems of signs of Vau da Sarapalha. In terms of methodological procedures was carried out a theoretical research and an analysis of a video recording of the play Vau Sarapalha. The article adopts as reference the theoretical approach of Semiotics of Culture, based on the concept of modelling. The research is constituted as a case study with a qualitative approach, with emphasis on the inter-relations between literature and theater, communication, semiotics, and theater semiotics. This paper is part of the Master's dissertation entitled "Vau of Sarapalha under the light of Semiotics: an analysis of the performance", developed in the Post-Graduate Program in Letters UFPB (PPGL), under the advice of Professor Elinês Oliveira.
