Social Media as Public Discussion Forums:
The Trump Case on the Twitter Platform and the Freedom of Expression

In May 2018 the New York State Federal Court ruled, against the President of the United States of America, that someone in an elected position cannot block a user from his personal Twitter account if it is used to conduct government business. In this text, we will seek, using the deductive method and the technique of bibliographic research, to analyze the reasons presented in the Court's decision. To do so, one has to answer the following research questions about if occupying an elected position, when using their personal profiles on social media to conduct government business, turn these profiles into public discussion forums and if these profiles on social networks are limited by the freedom of expression.
