Abstract

This article deals with the work Aprender a rezar na era da técnica, written by Gonçalo M. Tavares, contemporary Portuguese writer. Such novel makes up one of the volumes of the tetralogy O Reino, so named by the author. It is also one of the "livros pretos", denomination also created by Gonçalo M. Tavares, to designate his works that reveal a certain "disenchantment" and create nuisance in the reader, not only for the dark theme that present, but also for the work with language that is undertaken, creating a gloomy atmosphere, prevailing in a 'tone' dry and sharp. We focus on the question of look, from the perspective of critical reflections of Georges Didi-Huberman. What we see in the looking in, the critic quoted bring important issues, which combine perfectly with the theme of the look, proposed in this paper. The problem of tautological look and look belief consists of one of the axes that guided our analysis.
