The occupation of risk areas is the main characteristic of imbalance, resulting in clusters in areas unsuitable for construction, making the environment harmful and vulnerable for both the population and the environment. Thus, the present work aims to analyze the impacts generated by urban occupation in a risk area in the municipality of Olinda / PE. Through the field visit, a characterization of the area and critical points was made regarding the contributing agents of risk areas. Using maps collected from external sources, a quantitative analysis of land use was made through the georeferencing of orthophotocards from between the years 1975 and 1986, and satellite imagery from the years 2009 and 2018, using the QGIS software. The results made it possible to understand the impact generated by the process of occupation of the area, demonstrating a 45% decrease in the vegetation cover of the area, in the total of the years studied, due to a 43% growth in the urban area, thus exposing the effective human activities that directly affect the environment and the impacts that turn the already vulnerable surroundings into an area of constant risk.
