Impact of the implantation of floating photovoltaic systems in water bodies
Abstract
Solar energy is an important source of renewable energy and, among the various possibilities of photovoltaic arrangements, floating solar energy systems stand out and are increasingly widespread worldwide. However, it is necessary to assess the possible impacts on the implementation of these systems, especially the possible socio-environmental effects. The objective of this research was to carry out a literature review on the impacts that the implantation of floating photovoltaic systems can bring to water bodies in which they were installed. The articles used for this research came from the ScienceDirect, Scopus, IEEE Xplore and Web of Science databases. To carry out this search in the databases, the keywords “Solar Energy”, “Floating solar”, “Photovoltaics” and “Impacts” were used. Initially, 34 articles were found, 11 articles from ScienceDirect database, 7 articles from Scopus, 2 from IEEE Xplore and 14 from Web of Science. Duplicate articles and works that did not meet the inclusion criteria were excluded. After reading the abstracts, 10 articles were analysed and used for this review. The included studies have shown that the environmental impacts are still understudied. The social impacts resulting from the installation of these systems are yet to be analysed.
