LIBRARY, READING AND DEVELOPMENT: some considerations

Abstract

In this article we discuss the inter-relation between the concepts of Library, Reading and Development within a social, cultural and educational perspective. We analyse the question of the sociocultural differences between a reduced minority which has access to reading and an expressive majority which does not. We focus on the relevance of the library as a space for reflection in which to develop policies of reading, which make it possible to transform information into formation for the social subjects involved in the process.
