BRAZILIAN POLICY OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL INFORMATION: need versus reality

Abstract

An attempt is made in order to identify the present trend of the STI - Scientific - and technological information in Brazil starting from the evidence of its need in opposition to the evidence of its present configuration. In this sense it is highlighted as essential points for refection the relationship between knowledge and information, and its value in contemporary world; the information and transmission systems, overall the role of the press, the education and whether their history includes or not policies. Arid last there are three ways suggested for 'he establishment of STI policies in the country. It is urged a definition regarging to this matter, before it is too late.
