THE TRANSFERENCE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BETWEEN UNIVERSITY AND BUSINESS IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL POLE OF CAMPINA GRANDE - PARAIBA.

Abstract

This article analyses the process of information technology transference in the context of interaction university/business, with reference to the Centre of Science and Technology at the Federal University of Paraiba and to technology-based businesses belonging to the technological pole of Campina Grande. It presents as its principal results the value given to Internet and informal information communication channels; the existence of an institutional programme and of informal contacts between university staff and managers as elements which facilitate this process; and factors of an organisational nature as the principal barriers to the transference of information in the technological pole of Campina Grande. The analysis conjugates qualitative and quantitative techniques in orderto describe and explain the reality studied.
