PUBLIC LIBRARY: the speeches of the undergraduate Information Science students

Abstract

It presents a study carried as part of the professor-learning activity in classroom, taking into account the academic and pedagogical objectives of the subject Public Libraries, offered in the undergraduate Information Science at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). The collected data refers to the previous and current experiences of the students of such subject as users of public libraries. For the data collection , a structurally opened form was used and the answers had been given in free writing. The treatment of the data was made by qualitative approach, using discourse analysis . The results show that the individuals´ experiences in the Public Library environment is predominantly disastruous,specially in what concern their expectations towards the services they can get from in this kind of institution.
