KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND COMPETITIVE INTELIGENCE: challenges to productive organizations

Abstract

To enhance the capability of reaching new achievements, organizations need to systematically perform their Knowledge Management and Competitive Intelligence towards their Strategic Positioning. The enterprise knowledge appears as a especially important asset to any productive work from the progressive realization of the fundamental role it plays in production processes. Such consciousness is established with the advent of the Industrial Revolutions, in particular with the Third Industrial Revolution that takes place in the turn of the last Century. This paper aims to reveal that, through a model that deals with formal and informal knowledge and with their transformations, the enterprise knowledge is of fundamental importance to the achievement and to the support of competitive advantages. Furthermore, a knowledge management model, based on the four principles of administration, planning, organization, direction and control, is proposed to guide actions aimed at the rationale of management and work decision making.
