Abstract

This paper reports part of the end results of the Thesis research in which, in search of the dominant discourse of Information Science about the state of information in contemporary times, the frequency of discursive excerpts in a significant number of national academic production tittles in the area was charted, besides an identical survey in the LISA Bibliographic Data Base for international production. The selected discursive excerpts are significative enough indications of discursive configurations in the area in various historical moments, as wall as of the thematic paths of favored aspects in the survey: the which mixes culture, economics, politics and science with the historic-sociological perspective. The research verifies that the discourse of Information Science, after a relatively short reception of issues related to the sociocultural, seems to return to its former operational approach, nevertheless “privatizing” its work objects and objectives more and bringing its academic discourse dangerously closer to the dominant neoconservative discursive workings.
