Abstract

The article presents an overview of digital reference services showing the evolution from the traditional to the virtual services. It analyses the forms of such services: electronic mail, chat, web contact centers softwares, videoconference and collaborative services in virtual reference. Discuss the difficulties for the implementation of a digital reference service and the Brazilian initiatives in the area.
