Abstract

Work, as well as the learning process, is intimately related to human socio-cultural development. According to the present techno-economic paradigm, that considers information as an extremely important factor for the production chain, human capital is becoming even more valuable, mainly for the enterprises. This historical moment demands from workers an effort of continuously learning in order to cope with the new social and professional requirements. Under such perspective, new competencies are required from the information worker, that must take into consideration some characteristics of this information society that are present in our daily routine, either professional or social. The most relevant characteristics, in such aspect, are the speed of information transmission, interactivity and the upraise of the cyberspace, that allows the flow of an uncountable amount of information as well as the intellectual technologies that act upon the human cognitive functions.
