Abstract

Being a philosopher does not mean being out of the world. It means critically living the experiences that mark human destiny. Today, this precept assumes the characteristics of an unprecedented challenge. However, time seems to be condensed in the present, where the decisive problems for our survival are concentrated. The challenge requires courage and impetus because of the fast pace of history and also because the solutions that seemed appropriate a few years ago no longer prove effective. Philosophy, faced with such questions, must take a stand and say what is needed right now without hesitation. This text intends to meet the challenge and to urge the philosophy teaching community to undertake such a venture.
