E O RECIFE SAMBOU: DISPUTAS E CONFLITOS EM TORNO DAS PRIMEIRAS ESCOLAS DE SAMBA
Abstract
This paper investigates the beginnings of samba schools in Recife, seeking to question the constructed versions about the event. The sources used was a group of newspapers excerpts and oral reports of memories. The samba dancers in Recife were seen for many years a portion of the local intelligentsia, as followers of an alien practice, since the samba schools were considered a manifestation of Rio de Janeiro and should not appear on Pernambuco’s land. Perhaps this explains the intellectual silence issue they faced.Downloads
