Libraries have always been organizations that have kept pace with technological advancements, and contrary to what many may think, their primary resource is not books but rather the information contained within them. The Chat GPT is an online artificial intelligence chatbot, and its introduction has raised various questions about how to leverage this tool to enhance numerous processes and services. With that said, the present research aimed to identify, through a literature review, emerging studies related to ChatGPT and libraries. A total of 22 works were found to align with the study's objectives. Within these works, two recurring topics were identified: the first pertaining to proper usage, risks, boundaries, and ethical considerations, and the second regarding library services and librarianship practice itself. It is understood that there are many possibilities for utilizing this tool within the library, and it cannot be ignored. However, while it is necessary to acknowledge the numerous conveniences it brings, this should be coupled with a critical analysis and the collective construction of ethical standards for its use.
