Abstract

All over the years, in the stakeholder of Audiovisual Communication, many changes happened, stemming the rise of new technologies developed for television. Nowadays, the technological experiments get better so it does aim to a more modern television, providing new sensations to viewers. With the digitalization of audio and video signals at all stages of process production, mainly images transmission and reception, ten years ago the digital television (DTV) appeared. In Brazil the discussions about this system were started in 1994, but only in 2006 was signed the decree N° 4.901, making official the choice of the Brazilian DTV standard. This paper shows the historical reasons that ended up with the creation of the Terrestrial DTV Brazilian System, it presents respectives advantages too.
