TECHNOLOGICAL ELEMENTS FOR EDITION, MANIPULATION AND USE OF DIGITAL BOOKS

Amazon.com Inc. has announced in July of 2010 that first digital book sales exceeded that of printed books. This vertiginous growth in adoption of this new modality book causes doubts among professional librarianship. The purpose of this paper is to a review of literature which would help make clear what is a digital book describing the history, layout, the development of reading devices, and reflect on their benefits and weaknesses. Discusses the attitude of professional librarianship in front of changes and challenges of the digital book, and questions the end of the paper book. The applied method was bibliographic literature review research into consisted domestic and international scientific journals in information science, besides the consultation books, blogs, portals and websites. Conclusion is that models of the printed book and electronic exist alongside. It was evidenced that the opportunity is arising for publishing for expansion of certain types of books. In that context the Information Professionals must consider the technological innovations naturally, given opportunities that the new media may provide, emphasizing importance of the information in front the support that transmits.Downloads
