Abstract

Literature mapping is important to evaluate and improve the scientific communication published in scientific journals. This work aims to map the literature published in the journal Informação & Sociedade: Estudos, during the decade 1991-2001. Ten volumes were analysed observing: more used tools; citations distribution according to language publication; author's origin; sections where articles were largely published; citations distribution by journal; most cited journals; most frequently subjects. To analyse and treat the datas it was used the Bibliometrics. Results show the monograph as the most used tool; the journal Ciência da Informação is largely cited; authors coming from others knowledge areas correlated to Librarianship/Information Science were found as the most cited; seventy six subjects were identified suggesting changes in the editorial policy.
