INFORMATION AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE FOR CITIZENSHIP IN THE THIRD SECTOR

Abstract

This article unites reflections on the practices and representations of knowledge, information and communication which orientate the actions of groups, social movements, entities and civil society organisations - more recently covered by the denomination Third Sector - with emphasis on Non-Governmental Organisations of Advice and Popular Support (NGOs/AMP). These entities, of historical importance in the field of popular education in this country, carry out political-pedagogical actions which it is important to examine in the context of modern information societies, since promote spaces for the production and employement of knowledge and information for the development and democratisation of society.
