STANDARDIZATION FOR ON-LINE SCIENTIFIC PERIODICALS: a study applied in the Librarianship and Information Science

Abstract

This paper analyzes the standards for on-line scientific periodicals. The scientific communication presents distinct stages in its formats of dissemination. The aim of this paper is to evaluate how the on-line scientific periodicals in Librarianship and Information Science are applying the norms and standards of printed periodical to the on-line publications. The methodology used was an exploratory research to build a model for on-line publications based on the area literature review and evaluate consonance of the periodical with the model. The results indicates that the technology are influencing the scientific periodicals of Science Library and Information Science and its possible identify the tendency of publications dual mode (print and electronic) or exclusively online.
