THE LIBRARIAN GRATUATED AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research analyses the profile of the information professional in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Their objectives were: a) to know the professional profile of students graduated in Library Science at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, from 1993 to 2002; b) to verify if the emergent market is occupied by these professionals. As it is the second part of a research that analyzes the profile of the information professionals of the South of Brazil, it establishes comparisons with the first part of the same one that studied the professionals of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. The results indicate: that a great majority has graduated between 1999 and 2002; that most work in university libraries; that the professionals work mostly with management, information analysis and reference work.
