Regional Innovation System refers to a way of explaining the development and competitiveness of a region based on innovation activities and processes. Several studies have been published over the years since this term was coined in 1992. In the first decade of the 21st century, the literature on the subject was established, however, a consistent increase in publications has not been observed in recent years. In this sense, the objective of this study is to map and characterize the scientific production on Regional Innovation System, with a view to identifying the main research trends. This is bibliographic research and exploratory nature. The method employed was the Knowledge Development Process Constructivist. A bibliometric and systemic analysis of the 80 articles that make up the bibliographic portfolio was carried out. The results show that the Regional Innovation System has been a constant object of constant study, especially from 2015 and in the last biennium, 2021-2022, in post-pandemic resumption. Among the most researched subjects is the study of actors, innovation policies and evaluation methodology, which denotes research trends in recent years on Regional Innovation System. As future research, it is suggested to carry out a mapping that is more centered on some theme about Regional Innovation System, like the most published themes in the last three years
