Abstract

Presents an introduction to systems targeted to the automation and management process of scientific electronic journals, lists the Brazilian journals in the area of the Information Science which already make use of this type of resource. Introduces the Open Journal Systems - OJS, discourses about its main characteristics and functionalities. Explains the open archives initiative (OAI) and its importance in the context of free access to information. With regard to the migration process of the old electronic version of the scientific electronic journal Informação & Sociedade: Estudos to the OJS system it is presented the most important stages of the process as well the difficulties found and the guidelines adopted to reach a final solution.
