Abstract

Many publications deal with urban violence, delinquency or fear of crime. However, very few of them are showing the actual nesting of these concepts by demonstrating their dynamic articulation. This theoretical contribution aims therefore at filling this scientific void. In addition, it will revisit the concept of community policing by showing its potentiality to disentangle these phenomena in order to reduce fear of crime. Finally, this article will give some ‘lines of thinking’ concerning the management of public space, especially with regard to its re-appropriation by citizens and thus also with a view to decreasing the fear of crime.
