TRANSLATION DECISIONS FOR INTERACTION WITH THE BRAZILIAN READER IN THE SEMIOLOGICAL UNIVERSE OF JUVENILE FICTION

When we approach a study on interlingual translation, we are certainly faced with interculturality, with a linguistic-cultural expression inherent to the community of the source language (henceforth LP) and the transdutological product of the target language (LC) that seeks to express such culture in the language of another language community. We can say that it is the result of a process of intermacrosemiotics, "a process between object-semiotics belonging to different cultures" (Pais, 2001). When the LP text is the result of cultural expression in the field of children's and youth literature, we find narrative traditions that cross culturally in the imaginative making of creating parallel universes, invented realities, magic, traditions to which young people are often already accustomed. In the context of the translation process (Italian-Portuguese) of the book ‘The magical lands of Mindendhil’ (Mazzoli,2013; transl. Zucchi, 2016), this paper addresses the translation decisions of certain words and expressions that give life to such a magical world and deals with the solutions found to conceive this world represented in the Portuguese language for young Brazilians. The work is grounded in Translation Studies, in Aubert (1994), Morini (2007), Venuti (2018) and Berman (2002), and in Lexicon Sciences, with Dick (1990;2008), Amaral ; Seide (2020) for Onomastics; Tagnin (1989, 2013), Zucchi (2014, 2021) for Phraseology. Through the knowledge of the specificities of the Lexicon, the translator has access to the possibility of semiotic (re)construction of a discursively conceived universe thinking of an interaction with his target reader.
