In this paper, we will discuss the process of thematic vulgarization of works of art, highlighting their political and representative content. We will seek to develop a multidisciplinary approach, exposing how literature, visual arts, and cinema – in the context of so-called Western societies – have undergone a process of secularization and desecration of their content, shifting from an aristocratic and deified vision to instead portraying the temporal and ordinary relations of the social masses. It is from this perspective that we can infer some general features of the instrumentalization of art, here understood as a representative technique that, beyond its aesthetic-esthesiological purpose, also contains an ideological purpose. Thus, we will seek to describe how aesthetic representation can be a way out of the narrative discourses imposed by the dominant classes, but can also be reabsorbed by the status quo to defend the prevailing political structure.
